Filing week, final day: Mad dash

Posted by Ralph Schwartz on May 16, 2014

No time to copy out a list of who filed for offices that represent Whatcom County today. I'm writing a filing week story for the print edition.

Here's some very quick observations:

The Democrats waited until the last day to field candidates for both 42nd Legislative District House seats.

A Republican waited until the last hour to file his intent to run against U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen of the 2nd Congressional District. Meanwhile, four Republicans and two others are challenging U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, CD 1.

Safe this year are State Rep. Jeff Morris, D-Mount Vernon (LD 40); county Prosecutor Dave McEachran, who will advance to an 11th term; and the county's two district judge candidates.

Sorry I can't do more. Look for tomorrow's story, online later tonight or in print Saturday morning.
