Squalicum falls in season finale

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 15, 2014

Squalicum's softball team took a 15-0 loss in five innings to Anacortes in the final game of its regular season Thursday, May 15, at Squalicum.

Audrey Carson, Amanda Chandler and Hailey Linville each went 1 for 2 for the Storm's three hits.

"I saw a little bit of fight in the last game of the season," Squalicum coach Loren Zenonian said in a phone interview. "They never gave up and kept trying."

Dakota Littlefield took the loss, but Zenonian was impressed with how much she improved in her first year pitching.

The Storm graduate two seniors, Samantha Jackson and Samantha Jones.

"Jackson played hard. She's a great kid and was a great contributor," Zenonian said. "Jones was hurt today. I saw her fight through a lot of injuries this season. She has a great attitude. It's hard to keep coming out each year when your team isn't winning, but they showed a lot of perserverance."
