The Midnight Mystery Players presents a radio play, "The Green Hornet," at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Encore Room of Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.
The group, which has wanted to do radio's favorite gritty urban superhero for years, has created an original script from events in episodes broadcast on ABC radio from 1936 to 1950.
The Green Hornet and the Lone Ranger were both created by producer George Trendle and writer Fran Striker. They were fictionally related, too, with Britt Reid, the Hornet, being the grand-nephew of the Lone Ranger. They also both wore masks and had ethnic sidekicks: Kato with the Hornet, Tonto with the Lone Ranger.
Les Campbell plays Britt Reid, the Hornet and newspaper publisher; and Bob SImmons plays his father, Dan Reid, who as a youngster rode with the Lone Ranger. Admission: $7 at the door.
