In its first concert with new artistic director Dustin Willetts, Kulshan Chorus performs a "Poetry and Peace" concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave.

Kulshan Chorus celebrates songs and the spoken word in a "Poetry and Peace" concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave. The concert introduces the chorus' new artistic director, Dustin Willetts.

A highlight is a special work with Lawrence Solomon, who joins the chorus to recite the poem "Songs of Salish Chief," which tells history of the Salish people as recounted by a chief. The concert also features the Bellingham band The Atlantics.

Tickets, $16 general, $13 seniors and students, $7 youths, are available at Village Books, Community Food Co-op and at Western Washington University's box office, 360-650-6146, tickets.wwu.edu.
