Errors plague Mountaineers in loss

Anacortes scored four unearned runs in the first inning and cruised to a 10-3 Northwest Conference win over Mount Baker on Tuesday, May 13, at Baker.

The Mountaineers only managed three hits in the game. Emma Lallas was 1 for 1 with a triple and two runs.

"We just couldn't make contact today," Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. "We scratched back to make it 4-2, but then we made some late errors. It's on me for not getting the girls ready."

Aleks Toivola took the loss in the circle, but went 1 for 3 with a double on offense. Lacy Postlewait went 1 for 3 for Baker's third hit.

Mount Baker (13-6, 8-4 NWC) takes on Meridian at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at home.
