Mountaineers ride two-out outbursts in win

Mount Baker's softball team rode a hot day at the plate to a 14-0 win in six innings over Friday Harbor on Saturday, May 10, at Friday Harbor.

The Mountaineers' scoring outburst in the first two innings was impressive considering they scored seven of their first eight runs in with two outs.

"We came over and got some runs early," Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. "The girls did a nice job mixing in hits."

Baker (13-5, 8-3 NWC) got a strong performance from Aleks Toivola, who struck out four.

"She did a good job hitting her spots," Lepper said. "She made them put it in play."

Baker plays Anacortes on Tuesday, May 13, at home.
