Lyncs' offense explodes in win over Meridian

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 10, 2014

The Lynden Christian softball team eased past Meridian 12-2 in a Northwest Conference matchup on Saturday, May 10, at Lynden Christian High School.

The Lyncs (9-8, NWC 3-7) got strong performances from Shelby Brown, Livi Vander Griend and Karley De Jager at the plate, who combined to have eight of Lynden Christian's 16 hits.

"That's our 3-4-5 hitters," LC coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. "Just to have that middle of the lineup start really coming on for us is a big thing."

Vander Griend had a double and three RBI for LC.

Kasey Luna threw the entirety of the game for the Lyncs, although she did allow both of her runs in the first two innings. Madeline Gray had an RBI double for the Trojans (4-4, NWC 2-9), and Bailey Haugen added two hits of her own.

Lynden Christian is next in action Monday, May 12, against Squalicum. Meridian finishes up its regular season with a game against Mount Baker on Wednesday, May 14.
