Blackhawks win district championship

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 10, 2014

Lummi's baseball team won the 1B Northwest District Championship game against Mountlake Terrace Cedar Park Christian 6-3 on Saturday, May 10, at Lummi.

Charlie Wilson threw a complete game and struck out nine.

"He pitched great," Lummi coach Jim Sandusky said in a phone interview. "We pretty much held them in check."

The Blackhawks received a scare in the third inning when Cedar Park took the lead with a three-run inning, but the Blackhawks scored four runs in the fifth and sixth to get the win.

"We were able to get the bat on the ball and make some things happen," Sandusky said.

Lummi's next postseason game is unknown but they will move on and play Saturday, May 17.
