Tuesday forum will discuss water use in Whatcom County

The next in a series of grange forums on water use in Whatcom County will be Tuesday, May 13, at the Ten Mile Grange.

The focus for this free event is examining the major issues with water supplies and uses in the county and what would a comprehensive, reasonable solution look like.

Speakers will include representatives of the Cattlemen's Association, RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, Whatcom County Planning Department, and the Water District Coalition, which will be giving a 30-minute presentation.

A moderated question-and-answer period will follow the speakers.

The event runs 7 to 9 p.m. at 6958 Hannegan Road, north of Hinote's Corner.

Future forums will include agencies and local interest groups concerned with water issues, including small cities, water districts, and other governments, water associations, private well owners, environmentalists and rural land owners.
