Burke takes second in shot put to lead Lummi


Sarah Burke took second in the shot put to lead the Lummi girls' track and field team to a fifth-place finish on Friday, May 9, at Lummi High School.

Burke had a 24-foot, 1.25-inch throw, just 3 feet, 4.75 inches behind the winner. She also competed in the discus, taking fifth with a 54-06 throw.

Isabella James competed in the long jump with a 10-04.5. She also took fifth in the 1,600, running a 7-minute, 15.24-second race.

Thelma Wall (1:21.29) and Sabryn Tom (1:22.07) competed in the 400. They also competed in the 200, with Wall running a 34.42 and Tom running a 36.23.

Tom ran in the 100 as well, finishing with a time of 16.61.

Lummi took fifth with 15 points at the meet.
