Two Lyncs winners in three events

Lynden Christian's Hannnah Rusnak won two events and was part of a winning relay team as LC girls' track and field team competed against Sehome, Squalicum and Blaine on Thursday, May 8, at Civic Stadium.

Rusnak won the 100 hurdles with a 15.8-second race and took the top spot in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 1 inch. Along with Madison Weg, Brianna Burneau and Brandy Bruneau, she captured the 4x100 relay with a time of 50.9.

The Bruneaus were also half of the 4x200 winning relay team (1:52.20), and Brianna won the 400 with a 1:01.5.

Sehome's Emily Pittis won the 800 with a 2:19.0, and Bridget Henry won the 200 with a 26.7.

"We're trying to be smart, making sure the kids get the key workouts and resting those who need it," Sehome coach Kevin Ryan said in a phone interview of his team's preparations for sub-districts.

Squalicum got wins from Lauren Kurtz in the 100 (13.3), and Tara Knight in the triple jump (29-10.75).
