Murphy, Meggison lead Meridian girls' track


Meridian's Janessa Murphy and Mimi Meggison each won two events as the girls' track and field team competed against Nooksack Valley and Burlington-Edison on Thursday, May 8, at Burlington-Edison.

Murphy won the 400 with a time of 1 minute, 2.12 seconds and the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 10 inches.

Meggison starred in the long-distance races, winning the 1,600 in 5:32.28 and the 3,200 in 13:40.22.

Nooksack Valley's Leisha Yonkman earned a win in the shot put with a 26-01 throw.

In the pole vault, Meridian's Katelyn Zucati tied for first with Burlington-Edison's Rachel King at a height of 6-06.
