Backstage @ the Border presents What the Chelm! at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Christ Episcopal Church, 382 Boblett St., Blaine.

In addition to Klezmer music What the Chelm! performs music of Israel, favorites of the Yiddish theater of the 1920s, Ladino songs from the Jewish communities of Spanish, Balkan and Middle Eastern countries, and an occasional show tune.

As klezmer bands have always done, the group adapts some of their music to modern musical currents, and so include occasional swing rhythms, as well. Their motto: Tap your feet, savor the flavor, and if you feel the urge to move about or dance, don't stifle it.

Suggested donation: $7. More on the band: whatthechelm.com.
