Tipton's walk-off gives Sehome baseball playoff birth

Cameron Tipton hit a walk-off, RBI single and Sehome's baseball team earned the No. 4 seed to the Class 2A Bi-District playoffs with a 6-5 win over Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, May 6, at Sehome.

Tipton's line drive over the Tigers' second baseman scored Felix Zavisubin from third.

"He had to try not to get hurt in the dogpile," Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview of Tipton's reaction. "It was a gutty performance by our younger guys at the bottom of the batting order. Our young guys are getting a feel for things."

Drew Lomsdalen was 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Mariners. Owen Wright went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Kealohi Grondin was 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Sehome takes on Archbishop Murphy at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Daniels Field in Anacortes for the first round of the Bi-District tournament.
