Golden Eagles clicking on all cylinders


Ferndale's softball team broke out for 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 16-1 win over Squalicum in four innings in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, May 6, at Ferndale.

"We always want to play our game," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "We want to come out swinging, score runs and play fast."

Lauren Maley, who pitched two innings, was credited with the win for the Golden Eagles (16-1, 10-0 NWC) and moves to 15-1 on the year.

Squalicum (0-15, 0-9 NWC) scored a run in the fourth inning and had hits from Hailey Linville, Amanda Chandler, Brittney Jorgenson and Ruth Runge.

Ferndale plays Lynden on Tuesday, May 13, at home. Squalicum plays Mount Baker on Friday, May 9, at home.
