Squalicum falls to Anacortes, retains share of league title

The 2A Baseball Bi-District No. 1 seed slipped from Squalicum's grasp in an eight-inning 3-2 Northwest Conference loss to Anacortes on Tuesday, May 6, at Anacortes.

The teams will share the conference title, but Anacortes will take the top playoff seed.

David Stealy pitched a complete game for the Storm, striking out six and walking two batters.

Carter Nickelson went 2 for 3 with a double and Josh Holcomb was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Squalicum.

"We executed a lot of small-ball stuff really well," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "It was a playoff game atmosphere. I'm super proud of my guys."

Squalicum takes on Lake Washington in the first round of the 2A Bi-District playoffs at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Daniels Field in Anacortes.
