Ferndale baseball tops Bellingham in season finale

Chase Olson pitched a complete game to lead the Ferndale baseball team to a 4-1 Northwest Conference win over Bellingham in both teams' regular season finale on Tuesday, May 6, at Ferndale.

Olson struck out four and only walked one batter for the Golden Eagles.

"He's normally a reliever, but with us playing 12 innings on Friday and Saturday we went with Chase to start with," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview.

Ryan Fox went 2 for 3 for Bellingham (9-11, 6-6 NWC) and Oscar White was 1 for 3 with a double.

The Golden Eagles' (10-9, 7-5 NWC) Pete Pennylegion was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double and Brady Shearer was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Ferndale's postseason opponent is yet to be determined, but they begin the 3A District 1 Playoffs on Saturday, May 10.
