Upcoming business events

May tends to be a busy month for business events. Here are a few upcoming items:

-- The Whatcom Women's Network is having its third annual Spring Social 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 at On Rice in Fairhaven, 1224 Harris Ave.

The social is an informal networking event meant to introduce visitors to the women of Whatcom Women's Network and their businesses. Guests can also learn more about membership in the WWN.

Details can be found at whatcomwomensnetwork.com.

-- The Bellingham Herald is hosting a free digital marketing seminar geared toward businesses.

The seminar will focus on changing consumer behavior online. It'll be held at the Mount Baker Theatre on Thursday, May 22. Two sessions are available - one at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The seminar is free, but space is limited. To RSVP, email Melody Hitchner at melody.hitchner@bellinghamherald.com no later than Tuesday, May 20.

-- Sustainable Connections is launching a new speaker series.

The series focuses on the concept of triple bottom line driven business practices. Companies that strive for the triple bottom line take into consideration profit as well as the social and environmental impacts of what they do.

The first speaker event is on Thursday, May 22. The keynote speaker is Toby Barazzuol, owner of Eclipse Awards in Vancouver, B.C. The company was recently honored for being one of the best green businesses in the province.

The event runs from 4-7 p.m. at Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway.

Bellingham Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
