May tends to be a busy month for business events. Here are a few upcoming items:
-- The Whatcom Women's Network is having its third annual Spring Social 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 at On Rice in Fairhaven, 1224 Harris Ave.
The social is an informal networking event meant to introduce visitors to the women of Whatcom Women's Network and their businesses. Guests can also learn more about membership in the WWN.

-- The Bellingham Herald is hosting a free digital marketing seminar geared toward businesses.
The seminar will focus on changing consumer behavior online. It'll be held at the Mount Baker Theatre on Thursday, May 22. Two sessions are available - one at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

-- Sustainable Connections is launching a new speaker series.
The series focuses on the concept of triple bottom line driven business practices. Companies that strive for the triple bottom line take into consideration profit as well as the social and environmental impacts of what they do.
The first speaker event is on Thursday, May 22. The keynote speaker is Toby Barazzuol, owner of Eclipse Awards in Vancouver, B.C. The company was recently honored for being one of the best green businesses in the province.
The event runs from 4-7 p.m. at Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway.
