Multi-instrumentalist Richard Allen and his band, the Louisiana Experience, play zydeco, sultry blues, funk and West Coast swing with infusion of rock 'n' soul at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Conway Muse, 18444 Main St., in Conway.

Deep in southwest Louisiana, in the heart of the region called Acadia, French-speaking people pass down a culture rich in music, dance, food, language and love and kinship among family and community. It's called "joie de vivre," the joy of life, and the sounds and images of that Acadian tradition filled Allen's world as a boy in Lafayette.
