The Community Boating Center at 555 Harris Ave, by the Fairhaven Public Boat Launch, began operations for the 2014 boating season on Saturday, May 3.
The Center rents sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards and rowboats from 10 a.m. to sunset on Saturdays and Sundays. In mid-June rentals will be extended to weekdays. The Center also offers a variety of classes and lessons. For more information call 360-714-8891.
GRAPPLERS COMPETE AT STATE TOURNAMENT
North County Grapplers competed at the Washington State Freestyle Championships at the Tacoma Dome, led by Andrew Dugger's second-place finish in the Pee Wee 55-59 division.
Kingston Fogarty took third in the Pee Wee 55-59 division, and Cooper Clawson was fourth in the Schoolboy 152 class. Giovanni Steltzer also competed in the Schoolboy 152 division, taking sixth.
Dylan Harrison took fourth in the Schoolboy 70 class. In the Schoolboy 136 division, Luke Sorensen took eighth and Adam Dugger also competed. Evan Sorensen took eighth in the Novice 100 class.
Also competing for North County were Daniel Zarate (Bantam 55), Jackson Bennett (Bantam 55), Gage Morgan (Intermediate 70), Braden Leyba (Novice 85), Hunter Morgan (Schoolboy 128), Elijah Rohde (Cadet 126) and Alexander McLaurin (Cadet 146).
LYNDEN BOYS' LACROSSE FALLS ON THE ROAD
The Lynden boys' lacrosse team was shutout in the final two periods and fell 12-4 to Stanwood on Wednesday, April 30, at Stanwood Middle School.
Lynden scored two points in each of the first two quarters before Stanwood shut down its offensive attack.
HOLE IN ONE AT RASPBERRY RIDGE
Jean Shaffer hit a hole in one on the third hole at Raspberry Ridge Golf Course, her second on that hole and third in her career, on Thursday, May 1.
The third hole is a 120-yard par-3 at Raspberry Ridge. Carol Smith, Mark Santo and Les Gibson were witnesses.
BELLINGHAM GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB HOLE IN ONE
Karla Keyes hit a hole in one on the 13th hole at Bellingham Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, April 29. Keyes used a 7-iron to hit the 100-yard shot.
ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE AT BELLINGHAM GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
Pat Fleetwood hit a hole in one on the 135-yard No. 13 hole at Bellingham Golf and Country Club on Monday, April 28. Fleetwood used his 6-iron to nail the shot.
