Nooksack ends regular season on high note

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 5, 2014

Nooksack Valley's baseball team topped Lynden Christian 11-1 in five innings in the final Northwest Conference 1A game of the regular season on Monday, May 5, at Lynden Christian.

Lynden Christian still sealed the No. 1 seed in the 1A district tournament with the loss.

The game featured more errors than hits but Nooksack's eight-run fifth inning pulled the Pioneers ahead.

"Going into the postseason, I was hoping we would be playing a lot cleaner baseball," LC coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. "I told them that the beautiful thing about this is it doesn't matter any more. Only the best teams move on from here."

Nooksack's Parker Schram got credited with the win and Anthony Anker took the loss in his first career start.

Nooksack Valley will enter the postseason as a No. 6 seed and will play Friday Harbor on Tuesday, May 6, on the road. LC faces Mount Baker on Tuesday at home.
