B y the numbers The number of tons of marine debris and garbage removed from the state’s beaches during the Washington Coast Cleanup. More than 1,100 volunteers took part, cleaning beaches from Cape Disappointment State Park near Ilwaco to Neah Bay and along the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. “Our coast is a cleaner, healthier place thanks to these efforts,” said Jon Schmidt, coordinator for Washington CoastSavers.
