THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 3, 2014

The Bellingham Slam rallied back from a second half 19-point hole, but couldn't finish the comeback during a 119-116 International Basketball League loss to the Portland Chinooks on Friday, May 2, at Whatcom Pavilion.

Morris Anderson led the Slam (1-2) with a game-high 27 points, and Jacob Stevenson and Sam Freeman each contributed 19.

The loss snapped Bellingham's 22-game home win streak. The Slam's last home loss was April 21, 2012.

Bellingham trailed most of the game, but Anderson spurred a 15-2 run that tied the game at 109. Portland converted a layup with 32 seconds left to take a 118-16 lead, and the Slam weren't able to score during their final two possessions.

Bellingham plays the Olympia Reign next at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Whatcom Pavilion.
