Dine Out in Bellingham to help feed the hungry May 6

BELLINGHAM - More than 30 restaurants will donate 20 percent of their sales on Tuesday, May 6, to a hot-meal program for the hungry in Whatcom County.

The 14th annual Dine Out event will raise money for Maple Alley Inn, an Opportunity Council program that provides free meals to anyone in need.

"In addition to being a fun community event, there's an important fundraising need that this event fills," said Sheri Emerson, associate director of the Opportunity Council.

Maple Alley Inn serves more than 14,000 meals every year, and Dine Out raises between $22,000 and $25,000 every year.

The council is hoping to set a new record for money raised this year, Emerson said.
