Borderites can't hold early lead

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 2, 2014

Blaine's softball team couldn't keep it's hot start to the game going and fell to Burlington-Edison 12-7 on Friday, May 2, at Burlington-Edison.

The Borderites scored three runs in the top of the first only to surrender 10 in the first two innings to the Tigers.

"We jumped on her early," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "Then we had some trouble locating pitches and they took advantage."

The Borderites mustered another three-run inning in the fourth but it wasn't enough.

"They were seeing the ball well," Burk said of her hitters. "They put some good hits together to manufacture runs."

Blaine (10-6, 6-4 NWC) face Mount Baker on Tuesday, May 6, at Pipeline Fields.
