Maley, Nyenhuis combine for no-hitter

Lauren Maley and Scarlett Nyenhuis threw a combined no-hitter and Ferndale cruised to a 13-0 victory over Meridian in five innings on Friday, May 2, at Meridian.

Maley pitched the first two innings and Nyenhuis closed it out.

"They didn't do anything special," Meridian coach Jordan Chambers said in a phone interview. "We just had one of those off days. They threw strikes and our hitters weren't ready to hit."

Maley and Nyenhuis combined for five hits at the plate, including a Maley home run and a Nyenhuis stolen base.

Ferndale (15-1, 9-0 NWC) plays Squalicum on Tuesday, May 6, at home. Meridian (4-10, 2-6 NWC) faces Burlington-Edison on Tuesday on the road.
