Blaine comes out flat, loses to Cubs

Blaine's boys' soccer team fell to Sedro-Woolley 5-0 in a Northwest Conference match on Thursday, May 1, at Sedro-Woolley.

"I say the game was two different games for my team," Blaine coach Giovanni Quesada said in a phone interview.

Sedro-Woolley scored three goals in the first 20 minutes before Blaine finally settled down.

"We came a little bit down, a little flat," Quesada said. "I was happy for the second half."

Quesada knows his team can't play the same in the postseason.

"For the kids, it was positive learning. In the playoffs, it's only one game."

Blaine (5-7-4, 2-7-3 NWC) has finished its regular season.
