The state has suspended the license of a Seattle firefighter because he's been charged with child rape in connection with a Lynden girl.
Michael James "Suey" Sulak lives in Whatcom County but had been working in Seattle. He was arrested in February on three counts of child rape and put on paid leave.
The state Department of Health announced Thursday, May 1, that Sulak's EMT license had been suspended, preventing him from working as such. He has 20 days to respond to the department's charges and request a hearing.
According to the criminal charges filed in Whatcom County Superior Court, Sulak got to know the 15-year-old girl through a theater group and had sex with her multiple times. He was aware she was a minor, according to the charges.
He is out of jail awaiting trial and has been ordered to have no contact with the girl.
