Ferndale holds onto big lead for win over Oak Harbor


Ferndale's softball team jumped out to a 14-0 lead and held off Oak Harbor for a 14-4 non-conference win in five innings on Wednesday, April 30, at Oak Harbor.

Savanna Shawler went 5 for 5 with three RBI for the Golden Eagles.

"She was pretty fun to watch," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "She's just seeing the ball really well and putting it out there."

Scarlett Nyenhuis took the win, pitching two innings and only giving up one hit. She also went 2 for 5 with two RBI.

Ferndale plays next at 4 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Meridian.
