Lions break out in seventh for win

Lynden's baseball team broke out for four runs in the seventh inning to clinch a 7-1 win over Blaine on Wednesday, April 30, at Pipeline Fields.

The Lions capitalized on three Blaine errors in the final inning.

"To improve the way we want to improve, we have to do a much better job of damage control when things get away from us," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview.

The Lions' Lucas Petersen struck out eight in the complete game win. Blaine's MylesPeltier pitched 6 2/3 innings in the loss.

"Both pitchers did a good job," Linville said. "It was a good, hard-fought game against a good team."

Lynden (11-7, 7-3 NWC) faces Ferndale on Friday, May 2, at home. Blaine (5-14, 1-10 NWC) plays its final regular season game on Friday against Sedro-Woolley at Janicki Fields.
