Sage's pitching leads Squalicum over Baker

Connor Sage struck out six and allowed one earned run in his first varsity start as Squalicum's baseball team defeated Mount Baker 14-3 in five innings in a Northwest Conference game on Wednesday, April 30, at Mount Baker.

Squalicum's Kyle Little was 2 for 4 with three runs scored, two RBI and a double. Landon Tripp went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI.

"We didn't play that well. We just have confidence now that even if we start slow we will get rolling," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "We had a couple big innings and didn't do anything too special."

Chad Cohn went 2 for 3 for the Mountaineers.

Squalicum takes on Lynden Christian at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at home. Mount Baker takes on Sedro-Woolley at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Janicki Fields.
