Bellingham brewery hosts benefit for Oso victims

BELLINGHAM - The organizers of Bellingham Beer Week have gathered together local breweries, bands and businesses for a big fundraiser to benefit those affected by the Oso landslide.

The event is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen, 601 W. Holly St.

In addition to the local brews and food, people can listen to bands Nuages, Moongrass and Hot Damn Scandal.

Dozens of businesses have donated prices for a raffle and silent auction. Among the auction items are Seattle Mariners tickets, rafting trips, a weekend getaway from Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa, passes for Mt. Baker Ski Area, gift packages from area breweries, weekend rental of a Mercedes-Benz, mountain bikes and a limited edition Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl football.

Proceeds from beer and food sales, raffle tickets and the silent auction will go to the Red Cross "Oso Mudslide Relief Fund."
