BELLINGHAM - Art lovers will want to check out the 14th annual Children's Art Walk, hosted by Allied Arts of Whatcom County, which will take place Friday, May 2, throughout downtown Bellingham.

Young artists from Whatcom County will display their works of art in store windows Friday evening as part of the event.

Visitors are invited to stroll through downtown to view the artwork from 6 to 9 p.m.

So far, Allied Arts has teased exhibits on its Facebook page, such as the group of colorful drawings by Cordata Elementary School students that will be on display at Mod Socks (1323 Cornwall Avenue) and the collection of works by members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County, which will be on display at Casa Que Pasa (1415 Railroad Avenue).

Volunteers will hand out balloons and maps of all of the locations hosting artwork.

The evening will also feature activities for kids and adults, including musical performances from young musicians to celebrate the arts in schools.

The event is free and suitable for all ages.

During the walk, the Allied Arts Gallery exhibit will feature works by Allied Arts Teaching Artists in Whatcom County. That art will be on display throughout May in honor of the statewide Arts Education Month.

Allied Arts is located at 1418 Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham. Reach the organization at 360-676-8548.

The Children's Art Walk is part of the Downtown Art Walk. On the first Friday of every month shops, restaurants, studios and other businesses stay open to showcase artwork by local and visiting artists.
