Sehome tops Nooksack Valley on the road

Sehome's boys' soccer team scored two second-half goals to take a 3-1 Northwest Conference victory over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, April 29, at Nooksack Valley.

Jesse Haggen, Sam Willis and Charles Lahud all scored for the Mariners. Willis added an assist on Lahud's goal, and Zachary Wanne assisted Willis on his goal.

"Nooksack Valley played well today. They were tough to break through," Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. "Our guys had to hang in there against a strong team."

Luke Van Wingerden scored the only goal for the Pioneers. Levi Van Wingerden made 12 saves in goal for Nooksack Valley.

"My boys keep working hard and leaving everything on the field," Nooksack Valley coach Valentin Villalobos said in a phone interview. "Will Kingma and Luis Garcia take the team on their shoulders and push everyone up."

Sehome takes on Meridian at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Northwest Soccer Park. Nooksack Valley plays Bellingham at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Civic Stadium.
