Trojans fall just short in home loss

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 28, 2014

Meridian's baseball team had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but Burlington-Edison held on to take a 4-1 Northwest Conference win Monday, April 28, at Meridian.

The Trojans scored on a fielders' choice in the bottom of the seventh. Josh Hosick and Dakota Jones had the only hits for Meridian.

"Both pitchers threw great," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "It was a game that could have gone either way."

Devyn Holmes only gave up four hits on the mound for the Trojans.

Meridian looks to bounce back against Mount Baker at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at home.
