Poag's single gives Lyncs extra-inning win


Lynden Christian's baseball team scored in the bottom of the ninth to take a 3-2 Northwest Conference win over Sedro-Woolley on Monday, April 28, at home.

Jake Poag hit the game-winning single and went 2 for 5 for the Lyncs.

Grant Wolffis pitched eight innings for the Lyncs, giving up four hits and a walk while striking out four. He also induced 16 groundballs.

"Grant pitched his heart out and competed with every pitch," Lynden Christian coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. "We gave them a few extra outs with five errors, but we backed each other up."

Jamie Heystek went 3 for 5 with two runs, one RBI and a home run.

Lynden Christian plays next at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Meridian.
