Mariners show superiority in 7-0 win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 28, 2014

Sehome's girls' tennis team dominated Ferndale in a 7-0 victory in a Northwest Conference match on Monday, April 28, at Ferndale.

The Mariners only allowed Ferndale to win two games in all 14 sets.

"There's no question, they're the class of the league," Ferndale coach Ed Sweitzer said in a phone interview. "No one in the conference is going to threaten them. They are in a different league than everyone else."

Sweitzer did appreciate the effort his team gave in its second 7-0 loss to Sehome this season.

"Our kids played really hard," Sweitzer said. "Ferndale will get better and we can narrow the gap. But we won't be at the same level for a long time."

Sehome (10-0, 5-0 NWC) plays Burlington-Edison on Wednesday, April 30, at home. Ferndale (3-8, 1-4 NWC) faces Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, April 29, on the road.
