Red Raiders stay competitive with Cubs

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 28, 2014

Bellingham's softball team scored three runs in the third but failed to rally past Sedro-Woolley, falling 9-3 in a Northwest Conference game on Monday, April 28, at Janicki Fields.

"We were patient. We got a couple hits, combined with three walks," Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview of the third-inning success. "We took advantage of what they gave."

Julie Lattimer had two hits and Paige Jacobsen, Lindsey Richard and Justina Allen all had one.

"That was one of our better games of the year," Ellis said. "The train is headed in the right direction."

Jasmin Lopez stood out in center field for the Red Raiders, Ellis said. She had six putouts.

Bellingham (4-9, 1-7 NWC) plays Anacortes on Thursday, May 1, at Daniels Field.
