'Dancing Through Wonderland' features works by five choreographers at Bellingham Theatre Guild


"Dancing Through Wonderland," created by local choreographers Mary Simler Evans and Gayle Staker, is staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Bellingham Theatre Guild, 1600 H St.

Using the talents of five choreographers, and with amateur and professional dancers ranging in age from 14 to 70, the show features ballroom, jazz and hip hop with Staker; Rumba Northwest featuring choreographer Yasmare Gonzales Pi; Bellingham belly dance with Maggie Rose; hoop dances with Kaylee Wiebe; and Bellingham Dance Company with Evans.

Evans has been presenting dance showcases in Bellingham featuring different cultural styles in ballroom and partner dancing as well as hip hop, break, flamenco, belly dance and more for the past 12 years. "Wonderland' is her first dance story produced by her new school, Bellingham Dance Company.
