Whatcom political candidates to file in three weeks

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 26, 2014

Registered voters in Whatcom County considering a run for elected office have about three more weeks to decide. Candidates will file to be on this year's ballot the week of May 12-16.

In-county positions up for election this year include prosecuting attorney, two district court judges and a Public Utility District of Whatcom County commissioner. Residents vying for party precinct committee officer also must file in May. They will be on the Aug. 5 primary ballot. Charter review commissioners, elected once a decade, will be selected on the Nov. 4 ballot.

All four seats that represent Whatcom County are up for grabs in the state House of Representatives. The Senate seat held by Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, is also on the ballot this year.

Some candidates will file with the state, others with the county auditor. Fees and other information are at whatcomcounty.us/auditor. Click on "Offices Up For Election."
