Storm's 44 shots lead to 3-0 win over Ferndale

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 25, 2014

Squalicum’s boys’ soccer team piled 44 shots on Ferndale goalkeeper Nikita Leoneets and took a 3-0 Northwest Conference win on Friday, April 25, at Northwest Soccer Park.

Eli Guidroz had the most outstanding goal with a heelflick against the flow of the defense that found the net.

“It caught everyone by surprise,” Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview. “Offensively it was one sided, but they did a good job on defense holding us off. Their goalkeeper had some amazing saves.”

Leonevets had 17 saves for the Golden Eagles. Ferndale didn’t get off a shot in the game.
