Lyncs held scoreless in loss to Cubs

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 25, 2014

Sedro-Woolley’s boys’ soccer team held Lynden Christian’s offense in check as it rolled to a 3-0 Northwest Conference win Friday, April 25, at Lynden Christian.

Isaac Swenson, Adrian Vasquez and Mes Camacho scored for the Cubs (10-2-1, 6-2-1 NWC).

“I thought we possessed the ball a lot better than we have, especially in the first half,” Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. “We had a couple good scoring chances, then they got a second goal and we forced things a little too much. By doing that we created some transition opportunities for them and had to play on our heels.”

Daulton Lootens had four saves for the Lyncs (3-7-3, 1-7-2 NWC).

“Cody Fransen was all over the field trying to create plays,” De Ruyter said. “Our seniors in general, it was an incredible effort by all nine of them.”

LC looks to bounce back at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Meridian.
