FERNDALE - Residents can learn how they will be affected by the reconstruction of Church Road at an open house 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at WECU's conference room, 5659 Barrett Road.

The $3.5 million project, from Main Street to Heather Drive, includes wider driving lanes, sidewalks and new water, sewer and stormwater lines. The road will be closed to all through traffic for the duration of the work.

The contractor, Colacurcio Brothers, Inc., is scheduled to begin the week of May 5. Work will continue into October.
