Well-known Bellingham dive shop owner dies

The man who ran the popular Bellingham dive shop Adventures Down Under died this week from complications from an apparent diving accident near Mukilteo.

Ron Akeson was an instructor trainer and owner of Adventures Down Under, 2821 Meridian St. He was a diver for more than 30 years and specialized in technical diving and underwater photography.

Details were not available as of Friday, April 25. The accident apparently occurred in the waters near Mukilteo Thursday, April 17.

Adventures Down Under co-founder Barb Roy was busy Friday and unavailable to comment.
