Blaine girls' tennis suffers 4-3 loss to Ferndale

The Blaine girls' tennis team suffered a 4-3 Northwest Conference loss to Ferndale on Wednesday, April 23, in Blaine, one day removed from snapping a six-match losing streak.

Winning Borderites were No. 1 singles player Alex Henderson, No. 2 singles player Saskia Dolk and No. 4 singles player Caylie Sharp.

"We played about like we did yesterday," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. "There were two close matches at the end. We needed to win both of them, but we only won one."

Ferndale swept the doubles matches, and Trina Byers, the Golden Eagles' No. 3 singles player, won her match.

Freal praised the play of Henderson, who he said "really took care of business today."
