Meridan boys' soccer blanks Ferndale

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 23, 2014

Meridian's boys' soccer team cruised past Ferndale 3-0 on the foot of Alan Eyoub, who scored two goals in the Northwest Conference game on Wednesday, April 23, at Ferndale.

Eyoub scored in the 35th minute on a breakaway and punched in a 25-yard shot in the 60th minute.

"We ride his shoulders when it comes to goal scoring," Meridian coach Joe Spencer said in a phone interview. "He's only a sophomore, so we expect big things out of him."

Zamora kicked the scoring off for Meridian in the 15th minute.

"It was hard to get the kids motivated after the letdown loss to Anacortes," Spencer said. "Once we scored, we kept with it and finished it out."

Meridian (3-10-0, 2-7-0 NWC) plays Burlington-Edison on Friday, April 25, at home. Ferndale (0-12-1, 0-8-1 NWC) faces Squalicum on Friday at Northwest Soccer Park.
