Squalicum shuts out Blaine


Squalicum's boys' soccer team held a strong backline in its 3-0 win over Blaine on Wednesday, April 23, at Northwest Soccer Park.

Christian Chala opened scoring for the Storm in the 28th minute, scoring on a rebounded shot from Tyler Hughes.

David Abbott-Smith added a free kick goal from 25 yards out in the 31st minute and scored the final goal in the 62nd minute. BJ Flood assisted on the final goal.

"BJ James had some heads-up tackles on defense," Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview. "Conner Stevens and Spencer Wallace controlled the defense and kept it organized."

Tristan Hunter had six saves in goal for the Borderites.

Squalicum hosts Ferndale at 4 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Northwest Soccer Park. Blaine plays at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Mount Baker.
