Sehome girls' tennis stays unbeaten

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 23, 2014

The Sehome girls' tennis team stayed on a roll as it earned a 7-0 Northwest Conference victory over Sedro-Woolley on Wednesday, April 23, at home to improve to 4-0 in conference play and 9-0 overall.

At No. 1 singles, Andrea Clawson beat Sedro's Kassidee Beuse 6-2, 6-1 and the Mariners also had singles wins from Lauren Smith, Lizzie Friesen and Simone Hall.

Sehome coach Bonna Giller said Clawson's win over Beuse was even an improvement because it took Clawson three sets to beat Beuse the last time they met.

"(Andrea) really played composed today," Giller said in a phone interview, "no matter what shots Kassidee hit to her."

The Mariners had doubles wins from the teams of Madison Harris/Taylor Harris, Natalie Knops/Emily Webster and Ali Morrow/Andrea Zucchi.

Sehome is back in action with a 3:45 p.m. Friday, April 25 match at Burlington-Edison.
