Baker gets home win over Nooksack Valley

Mount Baker's Aleks Toivola settled down after allowing one run in the first inning and led the Baker softball team to an 8-1 Northwest Conference win over Nooksack Valley on Wednesday, April 23, at home.

Toivola went seven innings in the circle, striking out six and walking just one Pioneer. She was also 4 for 4 on offense.

Emily Yost also went 3 for 4 with two triples, two RBI and a stolen base for the Mountaineers.

"It was one of the best games we've played all year," Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview.

Lindsay Hayes went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and two stolen bases for the Pioneers.

Mount Baker takes on Lynden at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at home. Nooksack Valley hosts Ferndale at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Nooksack Valley Middle School.
