Western Washington University saw a four-stroke lead entering the final round evaporate as it finished fourth, five shots out of first, at the seventh annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship which ended Tuesday at the 6,803-yard Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
The Vikings, who had won all six previous conference titles, shot a final-round 311 for a 54-hole total of 897.
Saint Martin's (300) and Northwest Nazarene (302) tied for first at 892 after regulation play, with NNU winning by one shot on the first hole of a best four-out-five playoff as Connor Magnuson eagled the par 5 first hole.
Simon Fraser placed third at 895 (297) as Kevin Vigna took medalist honors at even par 213. He had a final-round 71, finishing with an eagle on the par 4, 482-yard 18th hole. On Monday afternoon, Vigna fired a 4-under par 67, the low round of the tournament.
WWU's Kyle Schrader, who was the medalist leader after both the first and second rounds (71-69), tied for second, seven shots behind at 220 (80), with Ryan Baumgart (74) from Saint Martin's.
